Bagan is an ancient town (it is disputed whether Bagan was founded in the 1st or 9th century) it was the capital of Myanmar until the 13th century.
In her the Golden Age Bagan had around 10,000 Buddhist temples, Today, the remains are found of over 2200 temples and pagodas still there creating an amazing old Skyline

The city is located on a dry plateau along the western bank of the Irrawaddy River 145 km southwest of Mandalay, near Chowk in Magway District. The Myanmar Archaeology Department recorded in 2217 temples. Bagan is one of the finest archaeological sites in Asia. Bagan was one of the most developed ancient capital of several ancient kingdoms in Burma. From the 9th to the 13th century Bagan was the capital of the Kingdom of Pagan. whopping 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas were between the 11th and 13th centuries built and monasteries were built in Bagan level alone. Today, more than 2200 temples and pagodas still survive and you can visit at any time. This wonderful ruins cover an area of ​​42 square kilometers.
