Borobudur is a very large temple (The world's largest Buddhist temple) is located in Magelang, the approximately 500 kilometers to the south is located east of the capital, Jakarta (Central Java, Indonesia). The temple is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia with millions of visitors each year. The temple was built in the 9th century and was abandoned around the 14th century, when Islam began to explore the region even though some believe it was more a series of volcanic eruptions that made life harder around Magelang to do more to dominate. The location of the temple was forgotten for centuries and was rediscovered deep in the jungle in 1814 was many excavations in the area of the temple are performed since the 19th century and some restoration work. In the 1980s, Borobudur temple was recognized as a World Heritage Site
