The old train cemetery is located about 2 km south from the center of Uyuni ( A small town in southwest Bolivia, near the huge salt lake) located , The city of Uyuni used to be a very important center exchange point for freight trains traveling west to the Pacific Ocean umbilical ports. Most trains were used by the mining company, and were especially tin and tungsten, which contributed more than 70 percent of Bolivian exports to the 1940s (during World War II Allies depended heavily of tin from Bolivia exported). Later in the 1940s, in Bolivia broke the mining industry many trains were abandoned in order in their final, isolated, rusting resting place of the Uyuni train cemetery. There were some proposals to open a museum of rusty cemetery, but funding has never been available, today there is still a draw for tourists and provide great photo opportunities due to the beautiful blue sky, white sands and the contrast of the neglected deteriorated vehicles and Machinery.
