The Blue Lagoon in Grindavík, a fishing village, just 40 minutes south of the Reykjavík (capital of Iceland). The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa, which offers a special experience, when the annual average temperature is around 5 degrees Celsius (and winter much colder) geothermal heated mineral pools of The Blue Lagoon dish out a real taste of Iceland's extreme environment and Islands contrast of fire and Ice cream. The Blue Lagoon is not natural hot springs as many tend to believe that the first pool on the site in 1976 from the water, which was released from the nearby power plant formed. In 1981 it was discovered that the water that are rich in minerals, have healing powers for some common skin diseases. 1992 official Spa open to everyone
