Snaefellsjokull Glacier & amp; amp; Volcano ( Iceland ) welcome tourists from different parts of the world. The massive white peaks is simply stunning that tourists the chilly weather brave, just to take a walk on the icy ground.

Snæfellsjökull National Park is located on the far west side of the peninsula Snæfellsnes. The main reason why this park was established was to protect the unique topography and landscape of the region, home to rare plants and animals should be encouraged. This park also offers historical relics to its mountains

It is about 2 hours drive to Reykjavik -. It is one of the most visited parks in Iceland due to its proximity to the capital of the country. The Glacier is also home to the volcano Snæfellsjökull, which is a famous volcano in Iceland and plays as the jewel of West Iceland. This volcano is 1446 meters high and it really is a tourist attraction of the western peninsula. This is the setting for Jules Verne '(1864) popular book, entitled "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (it was the starting point of the trip).

Snaefellsjokull Glacier is a volcano with glacier covered. This is considered to be the center of the National Park Snaefellsjokull. When you reach the summit in a clear day, you can eventually see the capital Reykjavik, which is about 200 kilometers away.

It was in 1754 when the mountain was first conquered by climbers. Like many other volcanoes in Iceland, this remains to be an active despite the recent eruption occurred 1,900 years ago. The glacier covers the summit crater to a depth of approximately 200 m, due to the worsening of global warming is shrinking glaciers. (2012 was the first time in history that the top of the Snaefellsjokull was free of ice)

There are many famous attractions, to see if the Snaefellsjokull National Park. Visitors can head to the beautiful beach called Lóndrangar Djúpalónssandur go as the two massive lava formations, Sönghellir (singing cave) and the Rauðfeldargjá is known as hidden waterfall.
