Sumela Monastery is dedicated to a Greek Monastery of the Virgin Mary. Which is also known as Flavius Theodosius - According to legend, the monastery from two Greek priest named Barnabas and Sophronius in 386 AD during the reign of the Roman Emperor Theodosius was I. (395 379), was established. It was founded in 1923 in abundance and later became museum and popular tourist destination in Turkey, because it is in a spectacular location, structure and mind blowing frescoes from the 18th century.

Sumela Monastery is a 1600 years old Greek Orthodox monastery. The monastery is situated at 1200 meters altitude on the steep cliffs. It is located near Macka region is Trabzon city of Turkey. Its stunning location (it is built on the rocks), structural and landscape makes Sumela monastery one of the most spectacular and the most visited places in Turkey.
