Askja is one of Iceland's most popular tourist destination. It is a caldera in the central highlands of Iceland. The name comes from a complex of nested calderas Askja in the surrounding mountains Dyngjufjöll (1.510m). Meaning of Askja Caldera's box or in Icelandic. Askja is a volcano in Iceland's highlands. In the mountains, surrounded Dyngjufjöll, the Askja Caldera ravine of dragons are found impressive Drekagil and two other interesting volcanic systems: Herðubreið and Kverkfjöll. The region is just for a few months a year available (from late June to early October). Víti is a warm geothermal lake at the bottom of the Askja crater away. This lake is formed naturally. It is proof that Mother Nature is so strong, and they can create, what she wants. Viti lake is a perfect destination for lovers of nature, clean and fresh air, awesome landscepes ... If you want to escape from noise in big cities and you forget about the daily duties, as we propose, Viti lake visit and enjoy in that its beauty.
