Askja is one of Iceland's most popular tourist destination. It is a caldera in the central highlands of Iceland. Blue Lake or Rotomairewhenua the Maori language, is a small fresh lake in Nelson Lakes National Park in the northern regions of the Southern Alps in New Zealand.

In a study in 2011 by several visits conducted helicopters and special equipment, the researchers from the National Research Institute leads and the atmosphere (NIWA), found that the lake has extreme visual clarity, optical stunning 80 meter depth that is nearly as pure as distilled water.
